Menino80 Posted October 16, 2008 at 05:02 AM Report Posted October 16, 2008 at 05:02 AM I was wondering if there's a site that streams Mandarin-language TV news with English subtitles? I'm not really interested in the news that much I'm just looking for some kind of formal Mandarin I can use for listening practice. Anything somewhat formal or enunciated is cool (History Channel in Mandarin, sports coverage), etc that has English subtitles is great. any help is appreciated. Quote
Murray Posted October 23, 2008 at 08:34 PM Report Posted October 23, 2008 at 08:34 PM Have you tried searching video sites like Youtube, Youku, Tudou, etc.? Youtube is flooded with shows from Taiwan, but there are several accounts that have uploaded shows from the Mainland. The majority of the videos will have Simplified Chinese subtitles, not English, but I think that's a positive if you're looking to practice your Mandarin. CCTV.com has plenty of videos you can watch all in Chinese. Look around, I'm sure you can find something. Quote

renzhe Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:10 AM Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:10 AM If you're interested in Chinese shows with Chinese subtitles, there are many, many shows we've watched and discussed over in the First Episode Forum. Check the sticky threads for some description and the links to the discussion threads. There are links to streaming sites for watching too, either youtube or youku or tudou, or similar. They are also sorted by difficulty level and have vocabulary lists and summaries to help you along. One of the shows, Hana-Kimi even has a youtube stream with English subtitles. You might want to check that out. Quote
Menino80 Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:59 AM Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:59 AM Yeah I think the Chinese subtitled ones will have to wait for while, but they look very useful once I get some more listening ability. I found some good stuff on veoh. Thanks for the suggestions. Quote
meghara Posted October 24, 2008 at 05:42 PM Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 05:42 PM Hey, I don't know about news, but crunchyroll.com and mysoju.com have a bunch of Taiwan/mainland dramas and movies that have English subs. On crunchyroll you can even switch between English and Chinese subs on some videos, or turn off subs altogether to practice listening. Quote
Christina99 Posted October 25, 2008 at 08:44 AM Report Posted October 25, 2008 at 08:44 AM CCTV9, or some Chinese movies. Quote
