Flying Pigeon Posted October 20, 2008 at 08:17 AM Report Posted October 20, 2008 at 08:17 AM Hello, Since I'm planning to use comics as a learning tool I decided to post here instead of in the Art and Literature forum. I'm looking for comic books that have pinyin printed with the characters, similar to Japanese comics printed with furigana next to the characters. I've searched the forums, but haven't found anything. Thanks in advance. Peace, Dean Quote
atitarev Posted October 20, 2008 at 11:21 AM Report Posted October 20, 2008 at 11:21 AM I thought so too, if not Pinyin, then Zhuyin Fuhao, as many translated manga come from Taiwan or Hong Kong. I have found out long ago that such manga/manhua don't exist. Quote
Flying Pigeon Posted October 20, 2008 at 10:47 PM Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 at 10:47 PM Atitarev, Thanks for the reply. I contacted chinabooks.com and they said that this comic includes pinyin: http://www.chinabooks.com/cart/product.php?productid=20121&cat=193&page=3 I'll let you know if I find more. Peace. Quote
character Posted October 21, 2008 at 12:08 AM Report Posted October 21, 2008 at 12:08 AM Presumably you want the pinyin to help you look up unfamiliar words. Can't you just use the handwriting recognition in Pleco? That's what I'm using to help get through The Lady in the Painting (simpl.). Quote
atitarev Posted October 21, 2008 at 10:26 AM Report Posted October 21, 2008 at 10:26 AM Manhua with Pinyin is a rarity. There are some readers with both Pinyin and Hanzi. Check "Graded Chinese Reader". Quote
elina Posted October 24, 2008 at 06:22 AM Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 06:22 AM Do these books count? Some have excerpts: Chinese Pinyin/Characters Comic Books http://www.studychineseculture.com/search.asp?keyword=Chinese+Pinyin%2FCharacters+Comic+Books&thetype=bookname Quote
atitarev Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:52 AM Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 11:52 AM That's a breakthrough, Elina. We need more of those. It helps those who want to learn to speak/understand first, and gradually learn the characters. Usually mastering hanzi lags somewhat behind the spoken language. Search for 注音故事乐园 (Zhùyīn gùshi lèyuán) series I described in this thread. Quote
Flying Pigeon Posted October 24, 2008 at 02:06 PM Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 at 02:06 PM Elina and Atitarev, Thanks for the links. Quote
elina Posted October 27, 2008 at 07:45 AM Report Posted October 27, 2008 at 07:45 AM I have just seen that thread mentioned by Atitarev, if people look for comic books (连环画图书) with Chinese Pinyin/Characters,then they’re rarity. But for colorfully illustrated books (彩色插图书) with Chinese Pinyin/Characters like 注音故事乐园, there’re hundreds of them in the market. Quote
