Unable to access CF from Australia

Can you send an email to admin@ with the IP address that's causing problems - you can find your IP address here http://whatsmyip.org/ Haven't banned any new IP ranges recently, and certainly never intentionally banned Australia.

Won 't be able to tell you that for a fortnight as I'm currently in China. The ISP is "ihug" if that's any help. Or maybe you could dig up the IP of my 2nd last post.

I'm not banning IP addresses in that range. It's possible that the hosting company is, although it's hard to see why. If you still have the same problem when you get back email me.

An update - tried a few random anonymous proxy servers on return home and still got the 403/forbidden error. So it wasn't my IP that chinese-forums.com didn't agree with.

Checked the firewall (Norton) settings, and found the browser/user agent in the Privacy settings was set to "blocked". Changed it to "permit" and bingo...access again.

Very odd that a website would refuse access simply because a remote user's browser wasn't sending its brand of browser!

Turns out that a blank user agent was included in a large list of ones to ban I'd been using. I've removed it now as I suspect it doesn't make much odds to me either way.

The forums seem very slow recently from both my home and work. Sometimes it just lags out and I get an error. But then I turn on Witopia (at home) and all is fine. Also, I noticed Youtube is much faster, yet Youku is much slower.
