jkpg123 Posted October 23, 2008 at 08:59 AM Report Posted October 23, 2008 at 08:59 AM I'm currently studying Mandarin at BLCU (Upper intermediate class) but am thinking of changing universities - either to Xiamen or Fudan. But my worry is that they wont have enough students to have an advanced class (HSK level 8-12). Can any of you tell me whether or not this is the case? Do they always have enough students to have an advanced class each semester? What is the teaching standard like there? (Compared to BLCU?) I dont want to change universities only to find out that there isn't a level suitable for me..Thanks in advance! Quote
anonymoose Posted October 23, 2008 at 11:15 AM Report Posted October 23, 2008 at 11:15 AM I'm at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and here there are three levels of advanced classes. The lower of the three levels has three separate classes. I don't know what Fudan is like, but I guess they must have at least as many students as Jiaotong (simply based on how well they are known). xmuoec Posted December 9, 2008 at 02:35 AM Report Posted December 9, 2008 at 02:35 AM :Dworking with the admissions office for Chinese programs, I suggest you choose other majors of humanities than just continue to study Chinese. In undergraduate Chinese program of XMU, students can pass HSK 8 when they graduate and they can already speak, read and write fluently in Chinese language. As a result, we don't open Chinese classes of even higher level. If you want to further improve your Chinese level, you can choose postgraduate TCFL for foreigners or study Chinese literature with Chinese mainland students. Quote
