Charged_Ion Posted October 27, 2008 at 07:06 AM Report Posted October 27, 2008 at 07:06 AM Hey, everyone. I have a Penpower Jr for inputting Chinese characters and with it came some translation software called 'Transtar ITE'. I have already asked about this problem from the software manufactures Support. However, it's been 3 weeks with no replies. So I'm pretty sure they just don't care. Anyways, when i use the software to translate from Chinese to English I get a bunch of "???" question marks. When I translate from English to Chinese I get a bunch of random meaningless symbols.. mostly big squares like 口. However, unlike right here, they don't mean mouth. If I copy and paste those same crazy symbols back into the software it translates it back to the correct English. Another words, the software is basically not out putting the characters in a format my computer understands. It also does not accept the format that my Chinese characters are input as. Which is odd since I used the software its packaged with to input my characters. I have the language packs installed. I see and write Chinese just fine. Yet the problem remains. Any suggestions? Anyone ever deal with this software before? Oh, and I'm running windows vista 64-bit home premium Quote
imron Posted October 27, 2008 at 08:01 AM Report Posted October 27, 2008 at 08:01 AM Sounds like an encoding problem. Try going to: Start->Control Panel, Regional and Language Options Then choosing the Administrative tab, and click on the "Change system locale" button. You will need to change this to either "Chinese (Simplified P.R.C)" or "Chinese (Traditional Taiwan)" depending on what region the software was originally written for. Quote
