This page has links to free ebooks, some in Chinese: http://www.e-book.com.au/freebooks.htm#5

That page links to http://www.xys.org/, and it says "Supplied by the New Threads Chinese Cultural Society, this electronic library is claimed to be the most complete web archive available of Chinese classic texts."

It also links to http://www.cnd.org/Classics/ - "Chinese Classics Pre-Qin philosophers, poetry, prose, biography, novels, commentary & other classical literature. Online in HTML for your Web browser."

It links to http://book.isoshu.com/ - A search engine that "may be used to locate many Chinese-language free books for adults plus for children comics, cartoons & education themes. These text may be read by installing eREAD's free proprietary software (file format STK), which includes many extra "community" features. Courtesy of Taiwan & China-based eREAD Technologies Co. Ltd"

I found this site, called the Chinese Text Project, at http://chinese.dsturgeon.net/index.html. The website says "The Chinese Text Project is a web-based e-text system designed to present ancient Chinese texts, particularly those relating to Chinese philosophy, in a well-structured and properly cross-referenced manner, making the most of the electronic medium to aid in the study and understanding of these texts. "

I am a complete beginner of the Chinese language, and I am not at the stage yet of being able to read ANY Chinese .

Hopefully these sites will be useful for you. :)
