Stanshall Posted November 4, 2008 at 09:24 AM Report Posted November 4, 2008 at 09:24 AM Hi there. I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, I hear it's a pretty basic procedure but I can't find a straight-forward answer to this one. Most posts are about renewing residence permit whilst changing employer. I'm just wondering what materials I need exactly to renew my residence permit. To cut a long story short, I'm the first foreign employee at this company and my boss is out of the country for the next fortnight - during which time I must sort out exactly what he needs to do upon his return to renew this! I speak some Chinese but this kind of legal administrative stuff is a bit beyond me. I'm going to go down there tomorrow with an armful of stuff and just try to break their spirit but I have a feeling I'll be traipsing out like Charlie Brown. So, what documents must I have to take down to my local PSB? Any and all help is very much appreciated! Stan Quote
Senzhi Posted November 4, 2008 at 10:49 AM Report Posted November 4, 2008 at 10:49 AM Stan, Your employer should first renew your work permit. This is a simple procedure and can be done in the current work permit document. Only then can he apply for a renewal of the residence permit. Also here the procedure is easier than an initial residence permit (no X visa required). However, I'm not sure if you personally can do this, since this a formal request from your employer, not from you. If your current employer did all the formalities for the initial work permit and residence permit, he should be aware of the procedure, which is basically the same (but easier). And since all the required documentation to submit will be in Chinese, I doubt you can be of much help at all in this. I know I wouldn't. Good luck, Serge Quote
