Postal Savings Bank transfers and statements

Recommended Posts

I know that there are several different ways to transfer money around inside China, including the 'giro' style transfer operated by the Postal Savings Bank (PSB).

What I need to know is

(a) how the recipient gets notified and

(B) if it is possible to get a bank statement say monthly listing transfers in and out of an account.

I know international banks like HSBC mail out statements monthly with all transactions but local banks like the PSB do not seem to do this. Is it possible to request this from them? Some banks have a passbook system which the account-holder can update at an ATM, but the PSB apparently does not have this.

I need to use the PSB as people making the transfer use this bank (it is cheap).

The PSB does not apparently have a website; at least an English-language Google search does not find any.

There's a website here. Notification depends on what kind of transfer you're doing. If it's a 按址汇款 - ‘according to the address remittance' then you'll get a note in the mail telling you to pick up your cash. If it's 入账汇款 - ’into the account remittance' it goes into your account and you don't get notified. There's also an option for password remittances. You could perhaps send someone money and force them to collect it with the password 'These funds are to help overthrow the state'.

Not sure about the statements issue.

Edit: Ah, wait a minute. This page of tariffs lists a 投递入账汇款通知单手续费 - ie a fee for delivering notice that you've received a transfer to your account. So it is possible, but not sure if the sender has to pay for it, or if you can request that all transfers to your account are notified. There are also 回执 fees, which I think means the sender can be notified that the money has been collected.

Thanks for replying so quickly. That answers some of my questions, but...

is it possible to get a list of all transactions in the past month?
