Lxn72 Posted November 15, 2008 at 05:32 PM Report Posted November 15, 2008 at 05:32 PM Hi. I am sending a gift of some books from the US to a good friend in China. The books are just a travel/coffee table book and kid books. When filling out the custom papers should I pick "Gift" then describe them as "Educational Materials" or do I pick "Other" and describe it as "Educational Material" Also would wrapping them (and placing them inside the shipping box) pose a problem? --Thanks for your help Quote
liuzhou Posted November 16, 2008 at 12:48 AM Report Posted November 16, 2008 at 12:48 AM Gift - Educational materials will be fine. Wrapping them is no problem, but why pay extra to ship more wrapping materials? Quote
Lxn72 Posted November 16, 2008 at 01:39 AM Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 at 01:39 AM Thanks for the quick reply. Still thinking about the wrapping, one of the gifts is for a small child, It's always fun for them to rip something open, plus the cost is a flat fee, so I may throw some more goodies in the box:D Quote
roddy Posted November 16, 2008 at 02:28 AM Report Posted November 16, 2008 at 02:28 AM The only issue with wrapping stuff is that if customs decide to inspect the package, they might open it. However I've never had anything (noticeably at least) opened and I wouldn't worry about it - unlikely to happen unless we're talking about high value or unusual items. Quote
