Outofin Posted November 26, 2008 at 04:02 AM Report Posted November 26, 2008 at 04:02 AM I have never studies ethnic music, but pop music is teeming with their influence. To name a few: 刀郎: this guy was quite popular several years ago. Mostly Xinjiang music. He also sings many old songs from revolutionary era. 王洛宾: Old school musician. Collected and probably polished a lot of folk songs from different regions. 腾格尔: This must be authentic Mongolian music, for he is Mongolian. I first knew him for his rock band called 苍狼 when I was very into rock music. Then I learned he was a good Mongolian folk song singer too. 何训田/何训友/朱哲琴: the team released several Tibetan music albums and has won serious international reputation. Their CDs are good material to test and calibrate your stereo system. Some southern tribal music in it. 郑钧—赤裸裸—回到拉萨: mean to be Tibetan. 童安格--爱与哀愁—好日岱: Mongolian Quote

I heard this name from somewhere something written in English, which means she has certain level of international fame. I just tried her debut album 万物生, a sort of Tibetan music. Not particularly bad or good. Not even close to 朱哲琴. I suppose she got attention mainly for her exotic costumes and stage sets. Meanwhile, isn't 韩红 a wonderful songstress! She's Tibetan but doesn't sing much Tibetan songs. Quote

I heard this name from somewhere something written in English, which means she has certain level of international fame. I just tried her debut album 万物生, a sort of Tibetan music. I've heard of her music before: 薩頂頂-萬物生MV She's mixed Chinese & Mongolian from Guangxi. The song has two versions: One is in Sanskrit & the other in Chinese. It's never in Tibetan. Not even close to 朱哲琴. She's Chinese, but went to Tibet and learned Tibetan, and later sings mostly in Tibetan, but sometimes in Chinese? 韩红 Edited February 1, 2010 at 03:20 AM by trien27 Quote
