Rysiek Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:15 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:15 AM Hello, I'm having a very strange problem with rendering the Traditional Chinese character for "green" (lü4) in Firefox 2.0.0.18 on OS X 10.4.11. For whatever reason, it shows it as this weird character that I don't know, but if I copy it and paste it into something like TextEdit, it shows up correctly. I've included two screenshots, one from Firefox and another from Safari for comparison. Any ideas what this is? I've been having some troubles with Firefox not displaying certain Chinese characters (despite me having set the fonts for all Chinese encodings to GB 18030 or Big Five fonts), but never rendering them as something completely different :
imron Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:31 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:31 AM Strange. I'm running 2.0.0.2 on OS X 10.4.11 and I just checked MDBG now, and don't have that problem when looking up 绿. One thing worth noting is that the encoding being used by the website is UTF-8, not Big5 or GB, however this should be automatically chosen by the browser (and you'd have other problems on the page if it was choosing a different encoding).
