peekay Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:49 AM Report Posted November 27, 2008 at 02:49 AM My old teacher gave me a Chinese name but I've mostly forgotten it. It sounded like "ba huang di", (could be "bo wang de" or similar). So I'm thinking using "巴" for the family name. Or maybe "白"? For the given name part, maybe "皇帝" like the emperor (I seem to recall discussion something about this in Chinese class... but that was years ago!) Would 巴皇帝 be an ok name, or would it sound funny to a Chinese? Any suggestions much appreciated!! Quote
imron Posted November 27, 2008 at 06:11 AM Report Posted November 27, 2008 at 06:11 AM I don't think it would be a good idea to have 皇帝 as part of your name. It would be inappropriate to have this in a name I think. Quote
Lu Posted November 27, 2008 at 03:17 PM Report Posted November 27, 2008 at 03:17 PM I second that. It sounds weird. 巴 and 白 are both ok surnames, but best pick a different given name to go with it. Quote
peekay Posted November 28, 2008 at 04:04 AM Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 at 04:04 AM Thanks for the feedback!! I asked my Chinese friend here, he says it's perfectly fine and he even knows someone named 皇帝. However I think I'll change it anyway since I don't want to offend anyone. Maybe 巴王迪? Quote

dnaand Posted December 15, 2008 at 07:30 AM Report Posted December 15, 2008 at 07:30 AM Maybe it's 柏望德? Quote
