Lu Posted January 6, 2009 at 12:13 PM Report Posted January 6, 2009 at 12:13 PM It's sci-fi, the planets don't have to be named just like China would name them, they just have to be named in a way that everyone, including the Chinese, think that's a cool and still somewhat plausible name for a planet. I think Changtian, Tiangu xing and Tianshang xing would work. Don't forget the xing after Tianshang. Quote
Hofmann Posted January 6, 2009 at 06:52 PM Report Posted January 6, 2009 at 06:52 PM Here are some other possibilities: Corporations get to name the planet for their sponsorship: 搜狗星, 快可立星, etc. People try something funny: 他媽的星 They do something generic: 甲星, 乙星, 丙星, etc. They name planets according to their location, similar to how provinces are named: 衛南門二星 (Orbiting Alpha Centauri), 衛巴納德星 (Orbiting Barnard's Star), 衛老人星 (orbiting Canopus), etc. Quote
Lu Posted January 7, 2009 at 06:32 PM Report Posted January 7, 2009 at 06:32 PM And pinyin: Corporation planets: 搜狗星 Sogo planet (Sougou xing), 快可立星 Quickly planet (Kuaikeli xing). Something funny: 他媽的星 Tamade xing (this means Fvcking planet) Something generic: 甲星 Jia xing, 乙星 Yi xing, 丙星 Bing xing (meaning Planet A, Planet B, etc). According to location: 衛南門二星 Wei Nanmen'er xing (Orbiting Alpha Centauri), 衛巴納德星 (Orbiting Barnard's Star) Wei Banade xing, 衛老人星 Wei Laoren xing (orbiting Canopus). Quote
