What does 看在(某人)的份上 mean?

hi, i think it depends if it is a simplified character or a traditional one.

the simplified one will miss the left hand side of the "份"...

I don't think so. They are separate characters, but interchangeable in some contexts.

分 is verb "to divide" "to distribute" or noun "minute" "cent" "tael/100" "centimeter" "branch"

份 is never a verb. As a noun its definition is more generally a portion, a part, or a role in something bigger.

Example, “愁”可分爲“秋”與“心”的部份。
