anonymoose Posted December 4, 2008 at 01:15 PM Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 at 01:15 PM You can use it on its own.
skylee Posted December 4, 2008 at 01:19 PM Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 at 01:19 PM It is usually used when one has reached a verbal agreement on something with another person. zigzagzerg Posted December 5, 2008 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 at 12:57 AM You can use it on its own. It's not a proper example. It's usally used when you make a deal.
duhaoshu Posted December 5, 2008 at 01:46 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 at 01:46 AM 一言为定 means it's a deal。
anonymoose Posted December 5, 2008 at 05:14 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 at 05:14 AM It's not a proper example. OK then. I've modified it slightly: A: 你明天给我介绍你的妹妹,我给你50块,好吗? B: 一言为定!
Hanlink Posted December 5, 2008 at 05:41 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 at 05:41 AM The examples given are all slightly 'off'. 一言为定 is used after the agreement is made between the people speaking and is used to emphasise the fact that 'you said it, now you've got to act on it, there's no turning back, it is fixed'. It certainly does not need to be a monetary transaction, but in the example given when A asks B to introduce his sister; B should say OK and then it is up to A to confirm with 一言为定. zigzagzerg Posted December 7, 2008 at 12:43 PM Report Share Posted December 7, 2008 at 12:43 PM OK then. I've modified it slightly:A: 你明天给我介绍你的妹妹,我给你50块,好吗? B: 一言为定! That sounds reasonable.
