Guest realmayo Posted December 4, 2008 at 06:36 PM Report Posted December 4, 2008 at 06:36 PM Using google's pinyin IME, or sogou, I have this problem: the little text box stays on the bottom right of my screen. I can drag it where I want it, but once I've inputted some characters into whatever programme I'm using, and then start typing some more, the little text box has gone back down to the bottom right of my screen. My Chinese is not good enough to understand the options either of these programmes give me: is there an option to make sure the little text box stays where you've dragged it? Quote
skylee Posted December 4, 2008 at 11:56 PM Report Posted December 4, 2008 at 11:56 PM For googel ime, try right click at the ime icon on the language bar, then choose 設定值, then choose google ime, click on 屬性, choose 外觀, uncheck 顯示浮動狀態欄. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:01 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:01 AM It works, thanks Skylee ... that is so helpful! In case anyone else is ever interested, I think Imay have had to unclick another button too, just above the one Skylee mentioned, labelled 输入框跟.... (whatever that means)... Quote
roddy Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:18 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:18 AM In Sogou, hit the little spanner icon, 设置属性, 常规,then makes sure the first option under 其他 is clicked - 光标跟随 :输入法候选窗口随着当前位置移动. Cursor tracking: IME candidate window follows current cursor position. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:21 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:21 AM Of course I can't blame the designers of these things for not including an english version, why would they. But I had to switch from Sogou to Google because I'd pressed something somewhere in the Sogou settings that forced a pink fluffy kitten to pop up on my screen attached to the text box every time I started typing, and there was no way I could get rid of it.... roddy Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:26 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:26 AM I can haz Chineez IME? Should be relatively easy to fix - get to 外观 on the settings dialogue, and uncheck 使用皮肤, or hit the 恢复...button at bottom left to reset all options on that page. I was just thinking an English version of the settings would be handy. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:29 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:29 AM Ah , 恢复... = the reset button ... that would've been useful to know. Anyway, I'm on Google pinyin now. Although, do you know if Sogou is markedly better than Google? I've only just started using the Google one. Oh, and what odds Imron telling us that pinyin is not the only character input method....? roddy Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:33 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 09:33 AM Yep, no pink fluffy kittens with Wubi I've always been very happy with Sogou, and have never felt a need to try Google, so can't comment. Quote
imron Posted December 5, 2008 at 11:56 AM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 11:56 AM Oh, and what odds Imron telling us that pinyin is not the only character input methodPretty low now that you've already done it for me Quote
ABCinChina Posted December 5, 2008 at 01:58 PM Report Posted December 5, 2008 at 01:58 PM (edited) Pink fluffy kitten with Sogou...lol Here's some themes I thought were the best after endlessly searching through the plethora of childish themes they had on the Sogou website. Guest realmayo Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:01 AM Report Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:01 AM I can't follow Roddy's earlier instructions (above) any more, Sogou's layout has changed. Can anyone tell me now how to get the text box to follow the cursor? Thanks! Quote
roddy Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:06 AM Report Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:06 AM Spanner icon > 设置属性 》 外观设置 》候选窗户跟随光标 (top right) Or, and this is quite handy, type 光标 or similar into the search box at the top left and it finds and highlights it for you. Microsoft really needs to buy these people. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:08 AM Report Posted February 27, 2009 at 04:08 AM ah, xxn! oddly it won't work with Wenlin but anyhow. Quote
