dalizee Posted December 16, 2008 at 07:48 PM Report Posted December 16, 2008 at 07:48 PM Hello! I know that there's no Chrismas in China. But Chinese people really like to celebrate it, even this is not an official holiday. So, can someone speak me about what you like to do on Chritmas? Do you use to have a Christmas tree? Do you receive and give presents? How is there? Do you stay home? Us, for example, will have a 2 weeks holiday. Thanks! Quote
cilla Posted December 17, 2008 at 03:15 AM Report Posted December 17, 2008 at 03:15 AM It's true that many Chinese like to celebrate Chriamas, even though it's not our official holiday. For me(I'm not a Christ),it means a festal day full of joy.Although it's no holiday, many markets give some discount for customers. The Christmas tree almost be prepared for the children. We receive and give presents like a box of sweet or a card sometimes, but no Christmas stocking. We don't always stay home, especially the youth. They prefer to go-off and enjoy with friends. Quote
dalizee Posted December 17, 2008 at 08:08 PM Author Report Posted December 17, 2008 at 08:08 PM Thanks for your replay. We gave our teacher a mug with Santa's face and Santa's hat and she liked them very much. She weared the hat during the whole class. Oh, and she teached us how to do 剪纸 and we did alsothings for Christmas. Quote

simonlaing Posted December 30, 2008 at 08:22 AM Report Posted December 30, 2008 at 08:22 AM In Nanjing it's like the Valentine's day 2 with lots of couples going out to dinner, buying each other flowers, going for a walk and ending up at a bar to wait until midnight to count down to Christmas. Plus there are the obligatory Merry Christmas text messages you should send to everyone you have in your cell phone directory. A couple of Chinese friends even went to Church to see a performance and improve their English. Yeah , something definitely was lost in the translation of Christmas. have fun, SImon:) Quote
