Interpretation of Lu Xun's famous poem

I remember while at the university back in the 1980s, a Malaysian-Chinese activist friend showed me this poem by Lu Xun. Literally, very straightforward, but I wonder whether you guys have heard of an authoritative interpretion of it? I think it's interesting because Lu Xun was supposed to use an unconventional language and writing style, which was heavily cricitized by traditionalists (intellectuals). So, may be he was just trying to get back at them through this poem? Any help on this would be appreciated.

横眉冷对千夫指，俯首甘为孺子牛

what kind of interpretation?

To be scornful of the unreasonal blames coming from enemies and fight against them bravely.

On the other hand,to serve the common people and pubic as heartedly as the farm cattle working for its owner.

横眉，怒目而视的样子，表示愤恨indignantly.

冷对，冷落对待 show contempt for sth/scornfully

千夫指，敌人的指责./the blames of your enemies.

俯首，低头，表示听从的样子.be obedient and submissive

甘为：愿意做willing to be

孺子牛：这里比喻人民大众的牛..working as a "farm cattle" for public that you love.
