NewUser Posted December 23, 2008 at 08:45 AM Report Posted December 23, 2008 at 08:45 AM It's part of an installation diagram for a car alarm I bought in China a while back (fortunately before the $A plummeted against the RMB) Quote
jbradfor Posted December 23, 2008 at 08:55 PM Report Posted December 23, 2008 at 08:55 PM Switch 1 should be off (up in the picture) for electrically powered locks, on (down) for air (pneumatic) powered locks. Switch 2 should be off for NOT automatically put into operation (?), on for automatically put into operations. [i'm assuming here this means should it automatically alarm itself?] The other two have some words I don't know -- maybe someone else can translate? Quote
NewUser Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:47 AM Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:47 AM Thanks, that makes sense. Switch 4 I've found, through trial and error, selects positive or negative alarm tripping via the door switch. Presumably some rare types of car switch the interior courtesy lights with a positive. Or maybe there are cars with the vehicle frame being positive rather than the usual negative. So that just leaves Switch 3 : Quote
roddy Posted December 24, 2008 at 06:00 AM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 06:00 AM 3 looks like some kind of anti-theft immobiliser / cut out? One (top) is 'anti theft not kill engine', the other is 'anti-theft kill engine' Quote
jbradfor Posted December 25, 2008 at 04:13 AM Report Posted December 25, 2008 at 04:13 AM roddy, could 熄火 refer to turning out the lights (e.g. the interior overhead lights in the car), or is it only turning off the engine? Quote
NewUser Posted December 27, 2008 at 05:17 AM Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 at 05:17 AM The alarm's auto-arm and ignition cut-out features don't seeem to be affected by the positions of switches 2 or 3, so they're still a mystery. Not to worry though, the alarm does pretty much what I want it to. Discovered an amusing feature it has - if the alarm is enabled while a door is open, or if returning to the car after an alarm trip and on opening the door, I get a different and loud spoken Chinese message for each, in a female voice, from the speaker. Very cute! Quote
