SeyzCN Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:05 AM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:05 AM Like for example in English you would be like I really miss you. How would you express really in Mandarin? Or like I am really hungry. You get the point:mrgreen:. Thanks in advance Quote
heifeng Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:30 AM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:30 AM my 5 second-plug-n-chug response is 1)我实在太xxxx xxxx=想你、饿了、笨了、etc which is a decent one size fits most format Otherwise you can use 2)我非常(非常)yyy yyy=verb such as miss you, angry, let down, but you may NOT be able to plug in as much here...like hungry, etc Then again the others can chirp and and give their more thoroughly thought out answers:mrgreen: Quote

NewUser Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:53 AM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 05:53 AM I used "hen3 duo1" while I was in China for "a lot" and I seemed to be understood and nobody laughed at me ;) Quote

SeyzCN Posted December 24, 2008 at 06:57 AM Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 06:57 AM really = 真的,真,好,很... 我真的好想你。 我真傻。 我好饿。 我很想你。 Gouke, thanks for your reply. But can you go into a little further detail with that. I am new at reading characters and do not recognize some of them and I do not know their pinyin translations. Thanks Quote
heifeng Posted December 24, 2008 at 07:05 AM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 07:05 AM really = 真的,真,好,很... oh yeah, I think I just skipped over the simple, obvious ones hehe 我很多想你...我很多饿...do sound funny. Yeah these would be worth a chuckle...but hopefully also a correction:wink: Quote
renzhe Posted December 24, 2008 at 01:56 PM Report Posted December 24, 2008 at 01:56 PM Gouke, thanks for your reply. But can you go into a little further detail with that. I am new at reading characters and do not recognize some of them and I do not know their pinyin translations. Thanks 真的 / 真 = zhēnde / zhēn = really 很 = hěn = very, a lot 好 = hǎo = the same as 很 when used in this way I'd use 很 before verbs. Using 很 before adjectives is the normal form, and doesn't necessarily carry the strong connotations you're after. Quote
