889 Posted June 30, 2004 at 02:07 PM Report Posted June 30, 2004 at 02:07 PM Except in the most formal circumstances -- carving an inscription, for example -- I'd use Arabic numerals. And I'd reserve 号 for speech; for writing I'd use 日 ri. If you want to use all characters for the date on your site, then use hanging form, that is top-to-bottom. Quote

geek_frappa Posted July 2, 2004 at 03:59 PM Author Report Posted July 2, 2004 at 03:59 PM 2005年2月14日? even when speaking? you say RI? http://chinese.primezero.com/pzcdz/u.php?search=February+14%2C+2005 Quote
zackzhou Posted July 3, 2004 at 07:19 AM Report Posted July 3, 2004 at 07:19 AM RI (日) is more formal than HAO ,and there is a fixed expression XX年XX月XX日 in formal writing. In contrast, HAO 号 often apears in a casual conversation, for example, today is July 1st (今天是1号), Quote
geek_frappa Posted July 5, 2004 at 05:30 PM Author Report Posted July 5, 2004 at 05:30 PM ok, so it is safe to say this then... http://chinese.primezero.com/pzcdz/u.php?search=December+25%2C+2004 Quote
Yuchi Posted July 5, 2004 at 11:27 PM Report Posted July 5, 2004 at 11:27 PM Not when speaking casually. When speaking casually about the date, we don't mention the year when talking (unless in writing, I suppose). 7 yue 5 hao. 7月5号. Quote
