Hi, I need some help... My grandmother just passed away this afternoon. I want to write a letter to her (in Chinese) before the funeral. She is mom's mother. I know how to write "wai po" (外婆), but I always called her "a bu" in Mandarin since I was little, but I don't know how to write it. I think "a bu" also means "Grandmother," just in a different dialect. I could ask my mom (she's a Chinese school teacher), but it's just a really bad time right now.

Thank you.

in my hometown's dialect , a bu = 奶奶或外婆(i'm from fujian province.)

你就写外婆或姥姥吧!

Looks like Minnanese (spoken in Fujian and Taiwan, and elsewhere in SE Asia). I'm not sure about the characters (my guess would be 阿母, but that doesn't seem right), but you can write 外婆, that will be fine too and anyone will understand.
