hi.

im trying to figure out a translation for some chinese characters i saw in a piece of art...

if possible, im looking for a direct translation (word for word) and also a general translation. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know very much and probably shouldn't try to say anything, but I am guessing there is a chance that the string of characters could be referring to some type of bonsai.

thanks for your help so far...

all ive been able to get out of these characters is 'bonsai, knife/sword, throat/neck'...

the image that goes along with it is a watercolour painting of a sword cutting through what appears to be a bonsai tree. can anyone give me a direct translation? and does anyone have an idea of what the over-all message is?
