I cannot figure out how to write these words in chinese. How do the chinese write these words in their language? Or I can use pinyin if you know that.

1. interest (what you pay on a loan to the bank)

2. refund (the money you get back from the IRS . .like a tax refund)

3. check (American's write alot of checks . . .a form of money)

4. domestic (referring to a person’s own country..something local..your own home area)

5. abroad (referring to another country a good distance away from your current country)

I am teaching English to Chinese locals in my area, but I don't know how to explain these words to them in their own language!!! Mandarin please :) Thank you for any help!!

refund 退款

interest 利息

check 支票

domestic 国内

abroad 外国

However if you are teaching English then you should be able to teach these things without resorting to using Chinese translations. I know it's harder to explain these things than it is inanimate objects, however it is possible, and very desirable when learning a foreign language because it relates the English words to what the represent, rather than to their translated words in Chinese.
