Qiuyue Posted January 21, 2009 at 02:18 PM Report Posted January 21, 2009 at 02:18 PM We have developed a widget by which you can input your date of birth and not only find out what animal you are and get a picture of that as well as the character for it, but ALSO a snip of code that you can easily put on YOUR website or blog in order for those pictures to show up there. Anyway, enough with the bragging. We have run into a few problems when building this thing. The main problem being to find out exactly what animals are assigned to what dates. As you might know, each year in China has a special animal assigned to it. However, the chinese year doesn´t run from 1 januray to 31 december, but from and to some time in february and march. That´s right, the date of new years eve shift. We used this scheme to find out what dates a new year have begun and what year adheres to what animal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexagenary_cycle#Relation_to_the_western_calendar Wiki should be the most reliable thing you could find, we thought. But...actually there are other tables of this, also on Wiki, but the dates are not exactly the same! You can watch the widget and pick the code here: http://www.sinovum.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=76 Please give us some feedback. I´ll see if I can post a sample below as well. Quote

yersi Posted January 28, 2009 at 09:59 AM Report Posted January 28, 2009 at 09:59 AM I like it, but I'm not entirely sure how I should add it to my blog (I use blogger). I tried following the instructions on your site but it didn't show up. Quote
Qiuyue Posted January 28, 2009 at 10:10 AM Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 at 10:10 AM Hmm, it works for me. You might have to "add a gadget", choose a html/javascript and put the code inside. You also need to use the html-editor when editing it (that should be default), not the rtf-text. You can also send me your url and I´ll have a look. Quote
