JenniferW Posted January 29, 2009 at 12:28 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2009 at 12:28 PM I'm just starting to use the ZDT flashcards. I've just input my first list of characters - copied and pasted from a long vocab spreadsheet list of my own. The pinyin input on my own list was done using the MDBG type pinyin facility (which shows me tone marks, not numbers). ZDT doesn't like any pinyin in: 爱尔兰 Ài'ěrlán Ireland. All the other items have copied and pasted OK. It's the only 3-syllable (3 character) word in the list. Is that the reason for the problem? It's the only vocab item which includes an apostrophe (following pinyin rules for adjacent vowels across morpheme boundaries). Is that the problem? I also tried inputting it without the apostrophe but it still didn't like it. Because this is the name of a country I used a capital letter, but don't think that's the problem because it copes with '澳洲 Aòzhōu Australia, Australasia'. What it gives for the pinyin is eea (for the form with or without the apostrophe).
