Less Sand Beaches & Marine Life in China?

I have to disagree ... there are a number of sand beaches in China ... Beidaihe
I used to live in Nandaihe, which is the town just to the south of Beidaihe. The beaches are packed for two months over summer and one week each for May and October national holidays (back when we got 1 week holidays for these). The rest of the year the beaches are practically empty, and see very little recreational use from the locals. This is in stark contrast to say Australian beaches, which see pretty constant use from locals all year round. So, even though there are sand beaches, they definitely don't see the same sort of usage compared to countries that have more of a beach culture.
