JohnB Posted February 4, 2009 at 09:02 PM Report Posted February 4, 2009 at 09:02 PM Beijinghua is not far from Mandarin of course but this may interest somebody. I came across this a little while ago. It consists of twenty videos of short conversations in Beijinghua with transcripts. This site is mostly in Japanese but clicking on the "EN" button at top left will produce some navigation in English. Checking the pronunciation box will supplement the Hanzi transcripts with romanization of a few words. The site has similar offerings for Mandarin and Mongolian, the latter a non-Chinese language spoken in China though here they use the Cyrillic alphabet rather than the traditional Mongolian alphabet used in China. It's more common to use Cyrillic, the traditional Mongolian alphabet is very hard for computing, I doubt you can type in it. The Cyrillic was used for a short period in Inner Mongolia. Quote
