Yvito Posted February 5, 2009 at 04:40 PM Report Posted February 5, 2009 at 04:40 PM Does anyone here know where to find masago (fish roe) in Beijing? I want to make sushi. I have been looking in all major supermarkets in their fish section. I even went to ask one of the guys making sushi in the restaraunt, as I saw him using the stuff generously, but the evil evil man just told me "这是我们的秘密哈哈". Also where can I find japanese rice and other ingredients to make sushi? Any pointer in the right direction is more than welcome. Quote
flameproof Posted February 5, 2009 at 11:57 PM Report Posted February 5, 2009 at 11:57 PM (edited) Have you tried Sogo? Are they still in BJ? I think they should have at least rice. Metro also have lots of imported stuff and I would try them too. With that large number of Japanese living in BJ I am sure there should be also some special food shops that cater to them. I found this too: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070929063244AAtjmVb http://www.chineseye.com/path-ye-biz_show&bid=203.html Edited February 6, 2009 at 03:20 AM by flameproof Quote
JenniferW Posted February 6, 2009 at 10:18 PM Report Posted February 6, 2009 at 10:18 PM Have you tried the shops which cater specifically for ex-pats? There's a small food supermarket in the old Friendship Store in Jianguo Men Wai. The several branches of Jenny Lou's may well have what you want. And I think you'd find it in the supermarket in the basement of the shopping centre people call the Lufthansa centre, but which on the front actually says something like Friendhip Mall / Centre, on the east side of the 3rd Ring Road by Liang Ma Qiao. Of the various ex-pat supermarkets, I get the impression they have more Japanese things. Quote
