glock Posted February 8, 2009 at 01:14 PM Report Posted February 8, 2009 at 01:14 PM Does anybody know what are the differences between 互相,相互 and 彼此? Sometimes I see some HSK questions like I have to choose between A)彼此 B)互相 C)相互. And I dont see any difference? For example which one is wrong? 互相帮助,相互帮助,彼此帮助 I guess 它们的用法不一样,但还没有搞清楚 Quote
xiaoyatou Posted February 8, 2009 at 02:13 PM Report Posted February 8, 2009 at 02:13 PM 相互 and 互相 they both can be used as “adverb” for example , 相互/互相 支持 相互/互相 关心 相互/互相 尊重 They have the same meaning ,used as adverbial adjunct. the diference: 相互 can be a adjective, but 互相 can not. such as 相互的关系 相互的怨言 相互的指责 相互的意见 Here 相互 is adjective. SO 互相 has only one usage while 相互 has two. PS: forgive for my poor english =.= I am a chineses. Quote
glock Posted February 8, 2009 at 04:40 PM Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 at 04:40 PM Thank you very much, now I see the difference between 互相 and 相互. So what about 彼此 ? For example 两国加强合作,不仅符合______的根本利益,而且....... a)彼此(Book says this is correct) B)互相 c)相互 After your explanation I see 互相 is impossible now(cuz its a adv), but why not 相互? Quote
sethhsu Posted February 8, 2009 at 10:07 PM Report Posted February 8, 2009 at 10:07 PM when 相互 is used as an adjective, it shows the interaction between both sides, and 彼此 just means "this and that" . so we cannot say 相互的根本利益 , we can only use 彼此 here. Quote
necroflux Posted February 9, 2009 at 04:35 AM Report Posted February 9, 2009 at 04:35 AM (edited) 彼此 can be thought of "each other", and as with 互相 can have a "mutual" meaning as well, so in this sentence it's 两国加强合作,不仅符合彼此的根本利益, 而且 ... "Strengthening cooperation between (these) two countries is not just necessary for (the advancement of) each others' (mutual) interests, but also.." In English it's awkward to use "each other" (we'd probably just use "their") but that's the direct translation. Edited February 9, 2009 at 05:15 AM by necroflux Quote
glock Posted February 9, 2009 at 05:29 AM Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 at 05:29 AM Thanks indeed I see why we want to translate it like their cuz 彼此 is 代词。 两个人彼此相互喜欢, 彼此相互信任, 我们沟通彼此相互交流,彼此相互认识,彼此相互尊重. so 彼此 is 代词 ok but in this case we shouldn't be able to say 相互之间 but I saw a lot. cuz I think here it can be neither an adj nor an adv. I see 彼此之间 makes sense cuz 彼此 is 代词, but still dont see how 相互之间 is possible. here is 相互 an adj? or and adv? So 互相 adv 相互 adv adj 彼此 pron Quote
MERGEClub Posted November 23, 2016 at 06:40 PM Report Posted November 23, 2016 at 06:40 PM Seems that according to baidu the last is wrong: Instead It should be 互相 adv 互相 adv adj相互 adv adj 相互 adv彼此 pron 对 相互 adv - http://baike.baidu.com/item/%E7%9B%B8%E4%BA%92 (each other, together) 互相 adj - http://baike.baidu.com/item/%E4%BA%92%E7%9B%B8 (reciprocal, mutual) Or I miss the clue? Would not be good for me, a begginer, to point out mistakes f native speakers. Regards, Alex. Quote
