vooymun Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:40 PM Report Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:40 PM Does anyone have any experience with this textbook? Masterworks Chinese Companion: Expressive Literacy Through Reading & Composition by Qin-Hong Anderson It seems like a good, cheaper alternative to All Things Considered. There were a couple reviews on Amazon, and another, more thorough review here First chapter (excluding exercises) is available online: simplified traditional Audio files are also available at http://chinesestudies.ucsd.edu/chin112b/masterworks.htm Quote
wrbt Posted February 11, 2009 at 03:34 PM Report Posted February 11, 2009 at 03:34 PM All Things Considered doesn't seem a suitable comparison. It is half conversational dialogues and half edited news articles with goal to improve communication skills... topics range from condom machines to disposable chopsticks' impact on the environment to students accepting money to help each other. This book using masterworks of modern literature involving emotions and human relationships to improve writing eloquence seems a different animal. Not judging the book mind you I've got no idea, just saying it's not really an alternative to All Things Considered as they seem completely different. Quote
