889 Posted February 20, 2009 at 03:26 AM Report Posted February 20, 2009 at 03:26 AM Download Apploc from Microsoft then run Powerword with it. http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx Quote
Shadowdh Posted February 20, 2009 at 07:58 AM Report Posted February 20, 2009 at 07:58 AM Hehehe... I was thinking you dont have the ability to read some Chinese characters and was thinking "join the club"... then I realised you meant on the pc and felt inadequate all over again... sigh... Quote
ABCinChina Posted February 20, 2009 at 09:45 AM Report Posted February 20, 2009 at 09:45 AM Did you set this? Go into your Control Panel and select "Regional and Language Options". Then click the "Advanced" tab and set the "Language for non-Unicode programs" to Chinese (PRC). You'll have to restart your computer if asked. Quote
Iluvchinese Posted February 20, 2009 at 11:21 PM Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 at 11:21 PM I already changed my computer settigns and have all the Chinese languages installed. These characters only seem to be appearing from the application menu in from "start" but not in program files>kingsoft>powerword. Anyone know why that is? Quote
mr.demoman Posted February 21, 2009 at 02:57 AM Report Posted February 21, 2009 at 02:57 AM well, that's rather a technical difficulty than a linguistic diffculty for language talents here. Quote
ABCinChina Posted February 21, 2009 at 03:00 AM Report Posted February 21, 2009 at 03:00 AM Hmm...I'm not sure what's going on in that case but you can try AppLocale, or go to this English Powerword Forum and ask for help. Quote
889 Posted February 21, 2009 at 12:23 PM Report Posted February 21, 2009 at 12:23 PM Note that if you try Apploc, it's not enough to just download and install it; you have to first start Apploc then run Powerword from within Apploc. Quote
gato Posted February 21, 2009 at 02:27 PM Report Posted February 21, 2009 at 02:27 PM You can also try the Lingoes dictionary if PowerWord still doesn't work. Lingoes is supposed to be pretty good. http://www.lingoes.net/ http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/2-favourite-chinese-musician7698&highlight=lingoes Dictionaries Recommendations for Lingoes Quote
imron Posted February 21, 2009 at 06:24 PM Report Posted February 21, 2009 at 06:24 PM I already changed my computer settigns and have all the Chinese languages installed. Installing the languages is not the same as setting the default language for non-unicode applications. Have a look at the settings that ABCinChina mentioned. This setting basically makes the computer pretend to be a Chinese copy of windows for any applications that rely on Chinese encoding rather than using Unicode. Quote
