IT's called horizontal inscribed board and it is usually used in such circumstance, when a docter help someone form a very severe illness, or a serious accident, the man send the board with such words to thank the docter. 华佗 is a very famous docter in acient China. He had saved many dying people. The second picture : 美德美貌,再世观音 mei3 de2 mei3 mao4, zai4 shi4 guan1 yin1 This piture is to commend a woman's beautiful appearance and virtue. The woman must be very kind, and often help others selflessly. 观音,or 观世音,or 观音菩萨, a famous person in Buddhism, and the only female. She often help those poor people. In China there are many people has their own seal, like a lawyer, a businessman, espacially the painters, and calligrapher. They would like to use their seal after they finish a piece of work. Quote
