Pengyou Posted March 2, 2009 at 04:21 AM Report Posted March 2, 2009 at 04:21 AM I will be traveling from Beijing to Korea at the end of this summer. I will be teaching English in Korea so I want to take about 10 boxes of my stuff with me - most are full of books. Is the boat going to be the cheapest way to go? Any suggestions? Quote
benhadad Posted March 2, 2009 at 02:47 PM Report Posted March 2, 2009 at 02:47 PM how heavy are your boxes? and what is the size? If they are heavy and large the boat is around 1500 yuan. A plane might cost much more if your boxes are large and heavy which I assume is the case. Quote
peekay Posted March 3, 2009 at 08:27 AM Report Posted March 3, 2009 at 08:27 AM 10 boxes full of books will easily exceed the luggage allowance on either a plane or a ferry. You'll likely be charged excess fees based on weight rather than volume, which can get really expensive (books tend to be quite heavy). Your best bet might be to ship the boxes separately as cargo (presuming you'll have an address to ship stuff to.) Then you can just pick them up in Korea. There might be some customs formalities you might have to endure, so check on the process beforehand. Quote
