xuechengfeng Posted July 9, 2004 at 03:55 AM Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 03:55 AM 我跟我女朋友有長遠關係。將來我們希望結婚。 is this correct structure or usage of words? Quote
skylee Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:02 AM Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:02 AM Yes. But 有長遠關係 sounds a bit odd. I would suggest 我跟我女朋友認識了很久,而且關係穩定。 Quote
zackzhou Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:25 AM Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:25 AM I'd just like to say that 我和女友的关系很稳定.将来我们打算结婚OR我们希望将来能结婚. Quote

Claw Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:33 AM Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 06:33 AM Are you trying to say that you're in a long-distance relationship, or that your relationship has lasted a long time? Skylee's translation is the latter. My Chinese isn't good enough to translate the former though... can 長距離 or 長途 (long-distance) be used in this context? Quote

xuechengfeng Posted July 9, 2004 at 01:57 PM Author Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 01:57 PM hmm, interesting. thank you. i guess zack's response poses another question. i think we were taught that we talking about people it is better to say.. 王先生跟白小姐 than 王先生和白小姐 and when talking about objects it is better to say 我喜歡吃豆腐和餃子。 as opposed to 我喜歡吃豆腐跟餃子。 is this incorrect? i'm sure u can use both, but is one way more proper? trooper Posted July 9, 2004 at 04:24 PM Report Posted July 9, 2004 at 04:24 PM 1) Found this on google: 我和我的情人分隔兩地 Chinese don't use the phrase "long-distance relationship." 2) I could be wrong, but I thought 和 and 跟 were interchangeable. The difference between them is one of style; 跟 is more colloquial. 3) Your examples bring up another point about style. I thought that in Chinese, you are supposed to strive for balance in your sentences. It sounds more natural to say 豆腐和饺子我都喜欢吃。 Quote
madizi Posted July 15, 2004 at 11:35 PM Report Posted July 15, 2004 at 11:35 PM 豆腐和饺子我都喜欢吃. The sentence is, of course, correct, but the emphasis is on doufu and jiaozi. So, 我喜歡吃豆腐和餃子 is also correct. Quote
maybedaisy Posted July 18, 2004 at 04:35 PM Report Posted July 18, 2004 at 04:35 PM in fact ,"和"and "跟" have no much defference, jyou can use either when you want to express "and" . but "跟" is litter more colloquial . Quote
