I would be much obliged if someone could help me to translate this saying to simplified Chinese!

“Is it necessary for a steel worker to put his name on a steel ingot that he produces in the course of his duty? If not, why should a member of the intelligentsia enjoy the privilege of putting his name on what he produces?”

钢铁工人是否有必要在他生产的铸模上留下自己的名字?如果没有必要,那么为什么知识分子却享有在自己的作品上署名的专权?

"in the course of his duty" means 他的职责所在

I've looked it up att both Baidu and Google and get no hits! I'm writing an essay and need a note! Does anybody have a link of some kind leading to a website or article containing this saying? Much obliged!

I don't think it's a saying, it sounds like a quote from some party official.

Where did you get it?
