PDA Displays Chinese, but not in 'Notes'

I think I had this problem before, and solved it, but forgot how :(

I did a hard reset of my PDA, and it all works perfectly now, except that Chinese does not show in my old 'notes'.

Hardware:

Palm Treo 750v

Software:

TREO 750-2.18-VFE

Windows Mobile 6 Professional

CE OS 5.2.1239

Chinese input:

CE Star

Regional Settings:

Chinese, (PRC)

Fonts in the font folder:

ksphonetic

SimSum

So, I can read ans send SMS in Chinese, no problem. Pleco, no problem. Internet Explorer, no problem. Emails, no problem. Word Documents, no problem.

BUT, my former notes do not display correctly in Chinese, even though they once did (which makes me have a vague memory I fixed this before). Also any address book entries in Chinese are also not showing properly.

I use my notes for all sorts of information I want to keep handy in both languages... would love to have them back (as well as my addresses!) :)

Any suggestions please?

Thank you so much!

What happens if you send them to your computer and open them there - should be possible to open the files in Word.

Thanks Roddy,

I sync my PDA every day with my computer, and on the computer everything is fine.

But when I am out and about is when I rely upon my notes and address book...

I know I caused this when I did a hard reset and reinstalled everything, there must be some extra step I need to take... but I can't recall what it is... hopefully somebody knows!

When you say they aren't displaying properly - what are you actually seeing?

Is what is showing up instead of the chinese that was there... it is like the encoding (UTF-8, etc...) is wrong, but I am not sure where/how to change it?
