kdavid Posted March 13, 2009 at 11:05 PM Report Posted March 13, 2009 at 11:05 PM Are you looking for insurance that will fly you back home in the event of a serious problem, or are you only looking to be covered in China? If you're only looking to be covered in China, try 平安 (Pingan). They offer "full coverage" for around 700 RMB a year, which is dirt cheap compared to back home. http://www.pingan.com/homepage/index.jsp I should warn you, however, that I'm only recommending this on price, which is probably a bad sign, and have no experience with the company and have no idea on whether they actually pay out what they promise to. peekay Posted March 14, 2009 at 05:40 AM Report Posted March 14, 2009 at 05:40 AM Ping An is a large, reputable insurance company, second in size only to China Life. They have a sweet deal with the Ministry of Education, as the preferred insurance company for foreign students in China. HSBC owns a controlling stake in Ping An. I have Ping An as my local insurance company, but I also have a travel insurance for additional coverage (medical evacs, etc.) I bought my travel insurance through World Nomads, and in my case the insurance is underwritten by Allianz.
