artoodetoo Posted March 15, 2009 at 03:07 PM Report Posted March 15, 2009 at 03:07 PM if I go to http://www.chinahistoryforum.com/ I get the message that it's for sale?! Quote
roddy Posted March 16, 2009 at 03:31 AM Report Posted March 16, 2009 at 03:31 AM (edited) Something seems to be going on - various talk of server moves and changes of admins - there are a few members from there on here, I think, perhaps they know. The domain is currently pointing to Sedo, which is blocked in China, so it'll just appear to time out from here. The above links are to Google cache, so they'll also need a proxy from China. Would be a shame if it disappeared, not a site I've ever used, but there's a hell of a lot of effort gone into it. Not sure exactly what's going on. Edited March 16, 2009 at 04:29 AM by roddy Quote
Alicia Posted March 17, 2009 at 05:25 AM Report Posted March 17, 2009 at 05:25 AM I found that site the other day, and bookmarked it so I could come back and look it over when I had time. I come back the next day and it's gone. The irony. Quote
roddy Posted March 17, 2009 at 05:42 AM Report Posted March 17, 2009 at 05:42 AM According to this it has been hacked. Hopefully they'll sort it out, but domain disputes aren't easy. If they've got a backup of the database it shouldn't be too hard to get up and running again on a different url though. Will drop an email to the members on here that I know were involved, see if they want to pop in and say hello. Quote
roddy Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:09 AM Report Posted March 17, 2009 at 08:09 AM Apparently the site got hacked and deleted, the guy that ran it can't do anything, and so he's put the domain up for sale. Sounds like it won't be coming back in a hurry. Quote
dazeshenglong Posted March 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM Report Posted March 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM There are always backup copies indeed. The hacker stole the domain name and redirected it to another web host, now he has parked the domain name for sale. I helped to track down the hacker and have found the primary hacker though how this hack originated and who were his cons are not clear yet. But the webmaster's irresponsibility seems he wants to give up. Quote
