Guest realmayo Posted March 24, 2009 at 10:27 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2009 at 10:27 AM Does anyone know anywhere online to download decent quality sound files of individual Chinese words, eg āyí āidào āiqiú āiyā āiyō àidài ? Takeru47 Posted March 24, 2009 at 11:07 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2009 at 11:07 AM I don't really see the point when you can listen to sentences with the words in context instead; however, you could always string together audio from a pinyin table. You can find one with easily accessible audio here. There is also a website called "iKnow" where you can find audio of words/sentences. AlecO Posted March 24, 2009 at 12:43 PM Report Share Posted March 24, 2009 at 12:43 PM I use TextAloud (text-to-speech software) with a Mandarin voice from ScanSoft. There's also a good text-to-speech site online where you can download the audio as mp3 for free, but I can't remember the address. Just Google 'text-to-speech chinese' and something should come up. =)
Guest realmayo Posted April 9, 2009 at 02:22 AM Report Share Posted April 9, 2009 at 02:22 AM Thanks AlecO. In fact what I've ended up doing is grabbing excerpts from podcasts instead, though obviously it takes ages.
