whereishunter Posted March 30, 2009 at 02:56 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 02:56 AM I take it Rain26 you don't study Chinese and/or you are very lazy. The translations are very easy, so why do you try yourself?? Quote
coolnicholas Posted March 30, 2009 at 03:46 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 03:46 AM yes, you are very lazy! there are just very simple Chinese! i think you can do it by yourself! Quote
Rain26 Posted March 30, 2009 at 06:14 AM Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 06:14 AM What is the purpose of this forum? I am just starting out learning Chinese and I just needed some help with a few quick translations. If it is so easy, why can't you just translate the words real quick instead of saying I am lazy. coolnicholas Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:02 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:02 AM ok, i show you how simple it is: What is your name? - 你叫什么名字? Where are you from? -你从哪里来的?/你是哪里人? Do you go to school? -你去学校吗? What do you study?----你在学习什么? What do you like to do for fun? - 你喜欢做什么娱乐活动? Do you have photo? -你有相片吗? How old are you? -你多大?/你多少岁? My name is - 我的名字叫..... I am _ years old --我..岁 I have - 我有..... Do you -你....吗? Hello -你好 Do you understand?---你明白吗? I live in -我住在...... I like - 我喜欢........ Quote
imron Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:04 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:04 AM (edited) If it is so easy, why can't you just translate the words real quick instead of saying I am lazy.Because it has been known to happen in the past that people will post their homework to forums on the Internet rather than doing it themselves. I'm not saying this is the case with you, but when you post a long list like this with no explanation as to why you want it, it's likely to raise people's suspicions. A better way to get an answer would be to provide a brief description of why you would like to have these sentences translated, and then provide the list along with your best translations, and then ask people to correct for mistakes. That at least shows people that you've put in effort rather than just wanting free translations. Edited March 30, 2009 at 07:15 AM by imron Quote
roddy Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:20 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 07:20 AM What kind of Chinese course are you doing that doesn't teach you to ask someone's name? Quote
skillphiliac Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:13 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:13 AM @roddy: What you meant is probably: What kind of Chinese course doesn't teach any of those sentences above at all? Quote
Hofmann Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:40 AM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:40 AM LZ probably doesn't know how to Google (mandarin common phrases), and those sentences are so simple and common that a computer translation shouldn't have any trouble. Abusing your request: What is your name? 名啊字啊何也? Where are you from? 何來你媽? Do you go to school? 學乎你媽? What do you study? 何所學你媽? What do you like to do for fun? 何所幹? Do you have photo? 圖有無你媽? How old are you? 歲你媽的? My name is 吾姓你媽,名你媽,字爾母。 I am _ years old 吾萬歲! I have 吾有爾母。 Do you 幹之乎? Hello 吾所好者你媽。 Do you understand? 明你媽乎? I live in 住你媽。 I like 吾所好者,非你媽。 Quote
skylee Posted March 30, 2009 at 12:58 PM Report Posted March 30, 2009 at 12:58 PM Hofman, LZ is silly (and probaby lazy) but you don't have to be rude. Quote
linkailong Posted April 3, 2009 at 03:04 AM Report Posted April 3, 2009 at 03:04 AM Hoffman, what dialect is that? Quote
Hofmann Posted April 5, 2009 at 05:50 AM Report Posted April 5, 2009 at 05:50 AM Hoffman, what dialect is that? 你媽話. Its only speaker existed 30th March 2009 07:40 PM to 30th March 2009 07:40 PM. It is now extinct. Quote
