Hello,

I've been learning chinese for almost 2 years now. The resources I have found the most helpful so far were the Pimsleur set of audio lessons and the Rosetta Stone software. Of course, I also use a textbook, but I like the audio-based resources the most as I'm mostly interested in developing oral communication skills. Also, I think learning from an audio source only definitely ease acquiring accuracy when speaking.

Now that I'm done with Pimsleur, however, I'm looking for some other audio resource in a style similar to that of Pimsleur. Something which is ideally independent of a textbook, so that I could listen to it in the bus without having to refer to a text.

Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

You might want to take a look at the FSI course here: http://http://www.fsi-language-courses.com/Chinese.aspx It can be used with a provided on-line text or without, plus it's free. I tried it after Pimsleur but didn't stick with it long enough to tell if it really "worked" or not.

Here's an additional download site that works better for me (I'm in China now.) http://http://www.learnchineseez.com/fsi/mandarin/

That's exactly the kind of resource I was looking for, thanks a lot! I'll try it out on the bus and see if it works for me...
