skylee Posted April 5, 2009 at 09:50 AM Report Share Posted April 5, 2009 at 09:50 AM Hello. I am considering installing a Chinese dictionary in my mobile phone (Samsung i908running on Windows mobile 6.1). The phone's original applications include a 金山詞霸, which is nice, but what I really want is a Chinese-Chinese dictionary in traditional script with hanyu pinyin. I note that there are many threads on plecodict and I've taken a look at its website. I don't really need english explanations and many of plecodict's features. Something like the Xiandai Hanyu Cidian published by the HK commercial press (i.e. in traditional script) would be perfect. Any recommendation is welcome. I am lazy this time. I have not searched the forums.
imron Posted April 5, 2009 at 11:11 AM Report Share Posted April 5, 2009 at 11:11 AM Pleco has a Chinese-Chinese dictionary, the 现代汉语规范词典, it's quite good and has a number of things I like about it compared to the 现代汉语词典, such as explanations of differences for certain similar words. Pleco can also change between simplified and traditional at the press of a button. The only thing for you probably is that it's quite expensive if you're only buying it as a c-c dictionary. You can download a demo from their site to see if it meets your needs.
