lv4ye4 Posted April 14, 2009 at 09:33 AM Report Posted April 14, 2009 at 09:33 AM Hello, I have an L visa that is good for one year with multiple entries. The duration of each stay cannot exceed 60 days. To put it a different way, I can stay in China for a year, but have to leave briefly every 60 days. I first arrived in China over a month ago and will have to leave the country on May 2 when my first 60 day period is up. My questions are these: 1) Can this first 60 day period be extended? That is, can I go to some office and ask to for permission to leave China a bit later -- say May 15? If so, could this be done without changing my visa, so that I'd still have the one-year multiple entry visa? There is a lot of discussion on the forum about "extending" L visas, but most of it (as far as I can tell) seems to apply to L visas that are about to expire completely. (I'm sure someone must have posted on my question before - but I'm not sure where.) 2) If it is possible to extend this first 60 day period, would there be any complications? (For example, I have read about a recent rule requiring a Chinese bank account with a certain amount of money in it.) Thanks for your help. Quote
Senzhi Posted April 14, 2009 at 07:00 PM Report Posted April 14, 2009 at 07:00 PM Can this first 60 day period be extended? I doubt it, since this would require a new visa document sticked into your passport, which, in turn, would cancel out your current visa. And that could mean the risk of your visa duration being reduced too, of course (depending on local authorities). Is it really worth risking that? Quote
