Where's the mistake in the following sentence?

虽然在当时的社会里，哥伦布那样的计划被认为是异想天开，但是事实上，古代的科学理论已经为哥伦布的航海计划供应了依据。

(This is a question from an HSK mock paper.)

Is it that 供应 is not an appropriate word here?

The place of 已經 in #1 is better.

It sounds incorrect to me.

Looking at other similar examples:

他 已经 为我付出了很多。

It sounds incorrect to say 他为我 已经 付出了很多。

However, it's correct to say 他 为了我， 已经付出了很多

but not 他 已经 为了我， 付出了很多。

Now, my question: Why?
