Hi-

For a very limited time the MIT Spoken Language Systems Group is offering slots in a paid user-study of a new Mandarin vocabulary building tool that uses speech over the web. Between 1 and 4 years of Chinese experience, and a microphone is required.

The study can be completed from anywhere with a fast enough Internet connection. We only have room for 40 slots which will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis. The study will require 2 and a half hours divided into 3 sessions. The 3 sessions will be spaced no less than 4 and no more than 7 days apart from each other.

* 1st session: upon signup (~1 hour) - $15 Amazon gift certificate

* 2nd session: 4-7 days later (~1 hour and 15 minutes) - $15 Amazon gift certificate

* 3rd session: another 4-7 days later (~15 minutes) - $20 Amazon gift certificate

The total payment for completing all sessions will be $50 in Amazon gift certificates. No identifying information besides your e-mail address is needed to provide payment.

To participate in this study, you must:

* be a learner of Mandarin Chinese

* have the ability to read pinyin

* have a microphone that works

* pass a brief microphone test

When you're ready to sign up for the study, check out the following web site:
