evasiege Posted April 23, 2009 at 05:29 AM Report Posted April 23, 2009 at 05:29 AM This just might be the most effective way to learn a language(or at least improve your listening that is). It's called watching magic shows and here's why. It is entirely based on visual learning through association of words to objects. Even if you don't understand whats being said you can understand the action, and 90% of the vocab used is to describe the objects or the actions visible on the screen, or at least used reference them. Not only this, but the magician reinforces the particular vocab associated with the object/action over and over throughout a performance to ingrain the idea of what they are trying to do. This is basically Rosetta Stone, but 1000 times more entertaining. If possible I would recommend you try to find videos on the internet of magicians in whatever in Chinese and watch away. Let me know how it goes, but I've found this extremely helpful. Check magic on Tudou. Quote
