renzhe Posted April 25, 2009 at 01:24 PM Report Share Posted April 25, 2009 at 01:24 PM You see this a lot in negative constructs. 一点也没有 = don't have any, there is none 一个人也看不见 = can't see a single person

renzhe Posted April 25, 2009 at 11:02 PM Report Share Posted April 25, 2009 at 11:02 PM I really don't know about a grammar overview for HSK. Probably the best thing to do is to buy one of the HSK preparation books and work through it. Back to the topic, it's not (just) a 一...也 construct, it can also be used as a (question word) + 也 + negative construct. Consider this: 谁也没有你好 Nobody is as good as you 什么也没有 There is nothing You can also use 都 instead of 也, especially if you're trying to express ideas like "nobody", "not a single one". With uncountable things, I'd use 也, but that's just a gut feeling, and they are probably completely interchangeable.
Don_Horhe Posted April 27, 2009 at 05:50 AM Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 at 05:50 AM Skillphiliac, which level are you going to take? If taking the 初、中等 check this out: http://www.wisdeal.com/hsk.html It's basically grammar/construction fill in the blank exercises, and there's explanations on usage. If you're in China, you can get the whole book from here.
