Where to search for a job in China

I see that most people on these forums seem to have jobs in China as a xpat. Could you share where you found the jobs / how you got them?

Im really interested in working in China, but teaching English isn't really my ideal job. thanks!

Actually if you subtract the people working as english teachers, the proportion of people on this board that work in China is probably not that big.

I do not work in China, so take this with a grain of salt, but...

If I was a Chinese employer, I would ask myself:

What skills do you have that a Chinese person doesn't have that would justify me going to the trouble of organising visas etc and paying more to someone who does not speak the language used in the firm, are from a different culture, etc.?

All people I've met who work in China, other than as language teachers, work for a company or government organisation in their own country which has sent them there, rather than working directly for a Chinese company. So your best bet might be to research a company in your own country that has work in China and get a job there.

Having said all that, I think there are a few people on this board who work directly for Chinese companies or have their own companies. Maybe they'll reply or you could search the forums to find them.

I used to work as a translator for an English-language newspaper. That was in Taiwan, but such jobs exist in China as well. You can probably find them in said newspaper.

For China, I'd recommend getting a company in your home country to send you. The [ay will be a lot better.
