Use of 倒 in sentence

The book I'm reading seems to use 倒 in the dialogue alot as can be seen below:

陳先生很神,倒不用我們說了。

Is 倒 being used as a substitute for 甚至 here? As in ' Mr Chen is very smart, to the point where there is no need for us to mention anything'

I'll hazard a guess, and say that 倒 here signifies a 转折, something along the lines of "Mr Chen is very smart, but (since that's clear to everybody already) there's no need for us to say it"

Last week we came across a similar sentence in our 口语 book, the teacher said that 倒, used like that, is the colloquial form of 并 - 倒不用 = 并不用.

Edit - I found it and I'll post it here to illustrate my point:

我比较喜欢温柔的、善良的、贤惠的、能体贴丈夫的，漂亮不漂亮倒不是最重要的。

I kind of agree with anonymoose and Don Horhe. 倒 here signifies 轉折.
